The Ulisse Deluxe Hostel is a few steps away from Sorrento’s historical centre, close to the shores and fishing villages of Marina Grande. The Hostel is well connected with all types of transportation, bus stops are steps aways from the hostel, a 20 minutes walk will take you to the train station which departs trains every 40 minutes that serve the famous Pompei and Herculeneum. The port of Sorrento is also 15 minutes away, where you can catch a hydrofoil or ferry to Capri, Ischia and Naples.
By air: How to get Sorrento from the International Capodichino airport in Naples a Curreri bus service exclusively for the Sorrentine Peninsula is available right outside the arrival section which will connect you directly to the city of Sorrento.
By train: From the Central Train Station in Naples the local railway service (Circumvesuviana) departs for the Sorrento station every 40 minutes. Sorrento is the last stop on the line. The journey takes approximately 70 minutes. Once the train stops in Sorrento you can reach the Hostel by walking, directions below:
If you do not have too much luggage it is an easy walk ( about 20 minutes) from the train station. Simply exit the station , walk down the steps and walk straight across a small street and you will be at the “main drag” Corso Italia.Turn left (do not cross Corso Italia stay on the left side). It will take you about 5 minutes to get to Tasso Square. Stay straight through the square ( after you clear the square , cross over to the other side of the street when you can) .Keep walking until you pass the hospital on your right, right after you pass the Hospital there is a set of stone steps to the right , take the steps down.Go down the steps and turn right, keep walking down the hill. The Ulisse Deluxe is located on your left, under the Ulysse Car Park.
By car: By car from Northern Italy
When you are between Caserta and Naples, go straight on till the exit of the toll booth of Naples, after the toll booth follow the indications A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria/Sorrento Coast and after nearly 20 km, this road will allow you to reach the motorway leaving Naples on your right.
Once you reach the booth for the payment of the toll, whose amount is 2.00 Euros, (be careful not to use the indications viacard or telepass if you don’t have them), go on along the motorway A3 for 18 km, and exit at Castellammare di Stabia (soon after the exit of Pompeii), after the booth turn left, follow the indications to Sorrento (blue signs), after about 2 km access through a slip road of an overpass, by turning left, a viaduct which will take you to the SS145, passing through two tunnels and coasting the street to Sorrento.
By entering the third tunnel you will by-pass the town of Vico Equense, and after almost 6 km, you will reach the village of Meta di Sorrento.
By going on along the main street (Corso Italia), going across Meta di Sorrento, then Piano di Sorrento and then Sant’ Agnello, you will get to Sorrento (once you have passed under the bridge). Go on until the crossroads and turn left onto Via degli Aranci, while keeping your right go along it all until you reach the Hospital. At the crossroads on your right there is the Esso petrol station. Turn right and place yourself as if you were filling up. Go on ahead, at nearly 30 metres turn right again into Via del Mare, go on for 200 mts and you’ll find the Ulisse Deluxe Hostel under the parking.
ATTENTION: Between Caserta and Naples you will find on your right a detour with a sign with the indication motorway A30. We suggest you not to take this street, you will take longer as it is over 40 km longer than the exit of Castellammare di Stabia.
By Boat: A pleasant ride by hydrofoil from Naples Beverello quay takes you to Sorrento in about 35 minutes. Departures are every two hours.
Hydrofoils run between Molo (Pier) Beverello (the ferry/hydrofoil terminal in Naples just opposite the Maschio Angioino castle) and the port of Marina Piccola in Sorrento. When you arrive at the port, take the orange bus to Piazza Tasso and then transfer to a line D bus to Marina Grande (tickets must be purchased prior to boarding and are on sale at the newsagent’s/tobacconist’s at the port).
