Following the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in the year 79 A.D., Pompei laid buried and forgotten for hundreds of years.
The excavations, begun in the 18th century, brought to light fabulously preserved frescoes which adorned the walls and floors of the Villas, an amphitheatre and anything could prove the prosperity of this town in the past.
The archaeological excavations are still being carried out today in order to give modern society the treasure of the past.
After the visit, free time for lunch and, later on, way up to Mount Vesuvius, which caused Pompei to be buried.
It dominates the Bay of Naples indeed. The coach will drive you within 1,000 meters from the top of the Vesuvius and from there you can walk to the very volcano crater with mountain guides.
